A native coastal species in California, we found the seed for this beside Hwy 101 near Seal Rock, Oregon. Biennial species growing a rosette the first year, followed the second year by flowering stems to 5' high on favorable sites. The late blooming flowers are 2-4" across, comprised of 4 golden yellow petals with ripe stamens dangling lightly up front. Pollinated by night flying moths, hawkmoths, hummingbirds, and bumblebees.
