Flowers: Calendula
Calendula officinalis
A familiar kitchen garden flower used for informal table vases and edible color in salad, soups, desserts, and plate garnish. Also for medicinal salves and tea. In the field, blooms encourage a host of beneficial insects: minute pirate bugs for thrip control, syrphids for aphis, micro-wasps that parasitize aphids and caterpillars, and native fruit-pollinating solitary bees.

Pastel to bright shades of yellow and orange, with only occasional red flashbacks. pricing and more info...

Flashback Mix (Calendula)  Flashback Mix Farm Original Variety! OSSI Pledged Variety
Our calendula “Mother of Gene Pools,” named for the flashy red or maroon backs of the petals, which are orange, apricot, peachy, vanilla, or yellow on the facing side-sometimes bicolored or tricolored! At sunset, petals fold up for the night, revealing their flashy backsides. A blooming strip of this helps slow traffic past the farm. pricing and more info...

 Radio (Calendula)  Radio
Clear bright orange petals are rolled lengthwise into quills for a "cactus dahlia" effect. This variety was new back when the radio was a new home entertainment center. Introduced ca. 1930, this 'pot marigold' became a common form for a generation, then faded from production. pricing and more info...
